“The Co-operative Group joined forces with Gallan Stoford in 2010 in a joint venture to develop and convert a plot of land in the Avonmouth area of Bristol into a 435,000 sq ft composite distribution centre. Throughout the planning process Gallan Stoford provided leadership and valuable advice to The Co-operative team, and the use of the same main contractor also assisted greatly with the co-ordination and planning of the build programme.

The distribution centre was finally delivered to a high standard on 10th September 2012. The new building incorporates the highest standards of energy efficiency such as Combined Heat & Power, movement detection lighting, load shedding, power factor correction, roof lights and rainwater harvesting. Such measures have assisted in achieving a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and an A rating for Energy Performance Certificate, all of which has helped to support The Co-operative Group’s commitment to reduce energy usage and improve sustainability.

Gallan took a joint and collaborative approach to all aspects of the recent KFC drive thru development at Weoley Castle in Birmingham.
